The international medical humanitarian NGO, ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action), has decided to organize an exhibition in the ‘OFF‘ of the Dakar Biennale of Contemporary African Art in order to raise awareness of its humanitarian cause. Through an exhibition entitled “We Are The Solution”, presenting 11 paintings inspired by its latest communication campaign created in collaboration with the French-Senegalese artist Lossapardo, ALIMA wishes to highlight the African medical humanitarian fabric. This moving and poetic work of art tells the story of a young African who becomes a doctor to save lives. Dr. Moumouni Kinda, ALIMA’s Chief Executive Officer explains: “We strengthen the skills of local doctors and health workers and develop research projects in the countries where we work to constantly improve our ability to respond to the humanitarian crises that affect the continent.”Thanks to its locally-based model, ALIMA is able to provide vulnerable populations with access to health care.
Where art and solidarity meet
The art exhibition is an opportunity to highlight the work of medical emergency teams in the field, to exchange ideas between professionals in the art and humanitarian sectors, and to support projects in the 12 countries where ALIMA is active. Part of the profits from the sale of Lossapardo’s work will be generously donated to ALIMA by the artist. Finally, ALIMA’s innovation, the CUBE (Biosecure Emergency Care Unit for Epidemics), a mobile, self-contained treatment unit for highly infectious diseases that has revolutionized patient care, will also be presented and on display during this event.
