Like ALIMA, any organisation needs a legal basis to collect and use personal data covered by data protection legislation. The General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 provides for six modes of processing personal data, with additional modes for sensitive personal data. Three of these processing methods apply to the types of processing used by ALIMA :

The information processed on the basis of :

  • The individual’s consent (e.g. to send you direct marketing communications by e-mail)
  • The need to comply with a legal obligation (e.g. to process a tax deduction return)
  • Our legitimate interests (see below for more details)

Provided that the use of the data is fair and does not infringe the rights of the data subject, personal data may be lawfully collected and used by ALIMA if it serves the legitimate interests of the organisation. Our legitimate interests are listed below :

  • Charity governance (e.g. the achievement of our charitable objectives, financial reporting and other regulatory compliance purposes)
  • Administrative and operational management (e.g. to provide information and services)
  • Fundraising and campaigning (e.g. administration of donation campaigns, sending out direct marketing communications, thank you letters by mail and tax deduction certificates)

If you would like us to process your personal data in any other way, please contact us at the e-mail address below.

If  necessary, we will adjust this privacy statement. If significant changes are made in the way we process your data, we will announce this clearly on our website or by e-mail.

This statement has been drafted as comprehensively as possible but does not contain an exhaustive list of the various aspects of the collection and use of personal data that we carry out. We would be pleased to provide you with any additional information or explanation of our practices in this regard.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions on this subject, please do not hesitate to contact us at rgpd@alima.ngo.
