Humanitarian Crisis: Funding Cuts Put Millions of Lives at Risk
Humanitarian aid is facing an unprecedented crisis. While needs are skyrocketing, funding is collapsing. The result: millions of people risk losing access to vital care, and our teams are on the verge of breaking point.
👉 Without immediate support, health centers will close, treatments will be suspended, and lives will be lost.
🚨 57 million people will need humanitarian aid in 2025.
Why is this crisis happening?
Humanitarian funding is plummeting:
- France: -40% in official development assistance
- Germany: -50% in humanitarian aid funds
- United States: -83%, impacting millions of people
Â
đź’ˇ ALIMA is on the front lines to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe
Â
Our teams operate in the most critical areas:
- Fighting the Mpox outbreak in the DRC
- Providing life-saving care for malnourished children in Nigeria
- Ensuring safe childbirth for mothers in Cameroon
- Delivering humanitarian aid to displaced people in Chad
Â
⚠️ Without immediate support, these interventions will stop as early as July.
đź’™ Every day counts. Donate now to maintain access to healthcare.
đź“Ť Behind the numbers, lives are at stake
This crisis is not just about statistics. Behind every number, there are faces, families, and hopes. Here are their stories.
DRC – Stopping Mpox before it’s too late
Mpox is a disease that’s misunderstood and stigmatised in my community. When I first felt pain in my eye, I tried to treat myself with drops, but my condition worsened, and I gradually lost my sight. I was welcomed and treated at the Kamituga Health Centre. Little by little, the treatments worked. I began to see shapes again, then colours. After two weeks, I was fully healed and my eye was back to normal.
Ombeni Kulimushi, Mpox patient – Kamituga
đź“Ś Why We Need to Act
The Mpox epidemic is a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (WHO). Without prompt diagnosis and treatment, this disease can lead to serious complications and even be fatal.
ALIMA is on the frontlines, working to diagnose, treat, and curb the spread of the epidemic, but also to advance research to improve treatment and, one day, eradicate Mpox.
đź’™ Â Let’s ensure access to healthcare for those who need it most.
🇳🇬 NIGERIA – Fighting malnutrition and saving children
For four days, my babies were suffering from fever and diarrhoea. I was terrified. The health centre diagnosed them with severe malnutrition. They were taken care of immediately: medication, injections, and therapeutic food. By the second day, their condition started to improve. Without this care, I don't know what I would have done.

đź“Ś Why Your Support is Crucial
Without immediate treatment, a child suffering from acute malnutrition can die within a few weeks.Â
đź’™ Let’s make sure every child receives the care they need.
🇨🇲 CAMEROON – Ensuring safe childbirth
I gave birth to my second child four months ago.The first didn’t survive. In our village, there were no health centres. My son Abdul was weak, feverish, and refused to eat. Thanks to the doctors, he was transferred to an equipped hospital and received the care he needed. Today, he’s doing much better, and I can finally breastfeed him again.
Zra Dawae, mother of two – Mokolo
đź“Ś Why Act Now
Every year, 5 million babies die from inadequate care at birth (WHO, 2023).
đź’™ Let’s ensure every mother can give birth safely.
🇹🇩 CHAD – Helping displaced communities
We fled our village after an attack. Without resources, we found refuge in a camp. Living conditions are precarious. When our child got sick, ALIMA transported us to a health centre. He is receiving treatment, and my pregnant wife is also getting medical care. Since we arrived, we’ve been provided with hot meals.
Moumdé Bokomi, displaced – Liwa
đź“Ś Why Is Your Help Crucial
Conflict and displacement affect over 100 million people worldwide (UNHCR, 2023).
đź’™ Supporting displaced people helps secure their future.
Economic crises and geopolitical priorities have led to drastic cuts in humanitarian funding. Major donor countries are reallocating their aid, putting millions of lives at risk.
If we don’t secure alternative funding, some projects will cease between July and September 2025. We are doing everything possible to find new partners that can safeguard these projects, but every day counts.
Every donation helps keep our programs running:
đź’› $ 25 = Provides an infant with life-saving vaccines
đź’› $ 50 = Can save the life of a child hospitalized for malnutrition
đź’› $ 100 = Â Helps set up emergency shelters for displaced families
📢 We have little time to secure these vital healthcare services.
