Care in Remote Areas: Preparing Today for Tomorrow’s Challenges

For the past 15 years, ALIMA has been at the forefront of delivering life-saving healthcare to often overlooked regions. As we mark this milestone anniversary, we remain steadfast in our commitment to innovate, save lives, and work towards a more just and united world.

A Unique Model, as Close as Possible to the Communities

Since its founding in 2009, ALIMA has adopted an innovative approach centred on proximity and partnership with local communities. By involving local actors at every stage of our operations, we are able to respond quickly to humanitarian crises while delivering solutions that are both sustainable and tailored to the specific context. Whether in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Sahel, or Guinea, our close collaboration with these populations enables us to better understand their specific needs and respond to them effectively.

Innovation at the Core of Our Mission

To address the most complex crises, ALIMA has always relied on innovation. From deploying rapid diagnostic kits and developing adapted malnutrition protocols to technological tools such as the CUBE (Biosecure Emergency Room for Epidemics), we are always seeking new, impactful solutions. This approach not only allows us to intervene quickly but also ensures a lasting and concrete impact.

Where Access is Most Challenging

This constant commitment to innovation has led us, over the years, to reach areas that are difficult to access or sometimes overlooked by larger organisations. In 2014, when the Ebola epidemic hit West Africa, we were among the first on the ground. Today, we continue to work in conflict zones, during epidemics, and in remote regions, where access to healthcare is a matter of survival.

A New Generation of Humanitarian Actors

To meet the humanitarian challenges of tomorrow, ALIMA relies on a new generation of professionals. These young talents, mostly from the countries of intervention, contribute essential local expertise and offer pragmatic, innovative solutions. Their commitment is key to the sustainable development of approaches that are increasingly adapted to the needs of populations.

A Lasting Impact

Our interventions go beyond emergency responses. ALIMA is committed to building resilient, sustainable health systems. By providing training to local healthcare workers and strengthening medical infrastructure, we ensure that communities continue to receive quality care long after we have left. This lasting impact is at the heart of our mission.

Together for the Next 15 Years and Beyond

As we celebrate this milestone, our eyes are firmly set on the future. Thanks to our donors, volunteers, and partners, we’ve achieved so much. But the humanitarian challenges remain vast, and we still need you for the next 15 years and more. Together, we will continue to go where access is the hardest, driven by the same passion and commitment to making a lasting difference.
