“They shot me. I fell.” – Testimony of a survivor in Goma, DRC

On January 26, 2025, Goma plunged into chaos. Within hours, thousands of families fled the fighting. Among them, Zawadi, shot and wounded, survived thanks to a group of young people who brought her to the hospital. Her story is one of resilience in the face of the unthinkable.

As she left her home that morning, Zawadi had no idea her life was about to change forever. Soldiers targeted her. Wounded and left on the ground, she survived thanks to a group of young boys who carried her to Heal Africa Hospital.

There, she receives free medical care and essential support. Like her, thousands of injured people have been treated by our medical teams in emergency conditions. Watch her powerful testimony in this video.
