Two months after the first participant was enrolled on July 16, 2026, in Rwampara, Ituri Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo, the EBO-PEP clinical trial has now enrolled more than 200 participants. Coordinated by ALIMA alongside national and international partners, the trial is testing the effectiveness of obeldesivir, an antiviral developed by Gilead Sciences, as post-exposure prophylaxis. This treatment is intended for people most exposed to the virus, including healthcare workers and the close contacts of patients affected by the disease.
