Sudan: The Lancet cites ALIMA on the health emergency in Tawila

In an article covering the worsening health and humanitarian crisis in Sudan, The Lancet cites Mathieu Kinde, ALIMA’s Head of Mission, on the critical lack of funding and immense health care needs.

As the conflict in Sudan continues to drive one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, The Lancet reports on the collapse of the health system, massive population displacement, and the challenges of humanitarian access.

The British medical journal quotes Mathieu Kinde, ALIMA’s Head of Mission in Sudan:

“Sudan remains severely underfunded and we can’t hire more staff or meet the massive healthcare needs.”

The article also highlights the mobilization of health workers from El Fasher, who continue to support ALIMA’s medical teams in our mobile clinics in Tawila, 70 km (43 miles) from El Fasher.
