ALIMA launches its 2030 environmental roadmap
Dakar, December 16, 2021 – Humanitarian action must plan for the future to fight climate change.
Aware of the consequences of climate change, particularly as it impacts the health of the people who live in its areas of intervention, the medical humanitarian organization ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action) is committing to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50% by 2030, as part of a plan created with the non-profit association Climate Action Accelerator (CAA).

Acute respiratory infections (ARI) are a leading cause of illness and death among children in Africa. They particularly affect children under five years of age in sub-Saharan Africa, which is why there is a need to strengthen child health programs.

The results of a new study, led by ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action), on the clinical findings and mortality factors associated with COVID-19 in West Africa, have been published in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases. This study, known as COVISTA, provides evidence that COVID-19 is as severe in sub-Saharan Africa as it is in other continents.

Lassa fever in Nigeria: Promising results from a new study will improve the quality of care

AIRE Project: Four West African countries integrate pulse oximeters into childhood disease management protocols
The Ministries of Health of Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Guinea officially launched the AIRE project, which aims to improve the identification of respiratory distress in children under 5 years of age, between December 2020 and January 2021.
