About Us
Who is ALIMA?
Founded in 2009, ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action) is an international medical humanitarian organization committed to providing quality healthcare for vulnerable populations facing health crises, epidemics, or natural disasters while conducting research to develop new solutions and sustainably improve healthcare.
A unique approach
ALIMA partners with national and local health authorities, local NGOs, local communities, and research institutes and universities to build innovative and tailored humanitarian solutions. With operational headquarters in Dakar, ALIMA’s work remains close to the field, with 95% of its teams originating from the countries where it operates.
A measurable impact
Since 2009, ALIMA has provided medical care to over 13 million people across more than 15 countries, mainly in sub-Saharan Africa. The organization is recognized for its expertise in malnutrition, pediatrics, women’s health, epidemics, and emerging disease response.
A long-term ambition
By leveraging research, field-based innovation, and strengthening local capacity in its countries of operation, ALIMA is working to transform humanitarian medicine and improve protection against future health crises.
